About Renee

Renee has had a deep love of movement since she was a young child training as a gymnast and taking dance classes. After studying theatre arts for several years after high school, she then decided to change directions and obtained a Bachelor’s in Social Work. For ten years, Renee worked with many diverse populations as a social worker in both Austin, Texas and New York.

During her time in Austin in the 90’s, she stumbled across her first yoga experience when she noticed an ad in the classifieds for free classes at a local community center. Renee felt such a profound sense of vitality, peace and gratitude after the first class that she was immediately hooked and began showing up at the center three times a week.  She continued her yoga practice when she moved to New York in 2000.

While she loved the positive impact she was able to have on many lives as a social worker, Renee missed the creative expression that movement provided and began to feel a strong desire to bring that sense of creativity, exploration, and play into children’s lives.  Renee received her Master’s in Elementary and Special Education in 2008 and taught creative movement to elementary and junior high students at a charter school in Staten Island for ten years.

It was while she was working in the school system that she had the opportunity to receive her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Breathe 4 Change, a program designed specifically for teachers working in the school system to become empowered champions of wellness in their classrooms and beyond.

In 2018, Renee took a leap of faith and left behind the stability of a job in the school system and became a yogipreneur. Renee Kroeker Private Yoga was launched, a business and a calling that integrates Renee’s extensive training and experience in the Movement and Healing Arts.
